Mike McFadden, DMD was growing out of his current office space and contacted smithARCHITECTS (sA) to design his new office space which would be located in an existing building that he owned near downtown Flagstaff. This existing building, which had been used previously as a dental facility, had been poorly maintained over the years and showed substantial deterioration to the floor and roof structures. SA thoroughly investigated the building condition and recommended that the building undergo a complete renovation. The renovation consisted of complete demolition of the roof structure, floor structure, and all interior partitions, so that the only portions remaining were the exterior concrete masonry walls. sA designed a new office environment within these existing walls that included a new vaulted entry/lobby and waiting area, administrative offices, employee break room with an exterior courtyard, open patient area with six dental stations, laboratory, and darkroom. This completely renovated building provides his patients and staff with a spacious, contemporary facility that provides the professional atmosphere that his practice deserved.
 
B & W Inc. was added to the team to act as the General Contractor. Through constant communication with sA and Mike McFadden, B & W Inc. was able to renovate this building and create a facility that satisfied and exceeded all of the clients’ needs and expectations.
