True North Dentistry

True North Dentistry is a dental practice located in Flagstaff, AZ. The owner, Dr. Richard Shannon, contacted smithARCHITECTS (sA) to design a new facility that would accommodate his growing practice. During the programming phase, Dr. Shannon expressed his desire to have his new office building reflect the architectural character of his personal residence. sA worked closely with Dr. Shannon and his staff to create a facility that achieved a comfortable, inviting atmosphere for his patients, while still providing the high tech, professional dental space that his practice demands. This building consists of two hygiene rooms, four operatories, laboratory and darkroom, hygienist prep. station, office, reception/waiting area, and an employee breakroom. sA located the operatory and hygiene rooms to exterior walls in order to provide large windows that allowed each patient direct views to the outside. These rooms were located in a circular pattern around the lab and hygienist prep area that allowed the hygienist and dentists easy and efficient access to each patient room. The building design was further enhanced by introducing dormers that acted as light wells to provide natural daylighting throughout the entire facility.

Dr. Shannon enlisted Mike Furr Construction (MFC) to act as the General Contractor. sA worked closely with Dr. Shannon and MFC throughout the entire construction process. The entire team worked together to ensure that this facility satisfied and exceeded all of the clients needs and expectations.
